Fibercore Response to COVID-19
Today, this Novel Coronavirus is challenging all of us – in our home lives as well as in our businesses. All that is certain is that the Human Race will win and COVID-19 will lose (we just don’t know exactly when this will happen). In the midst of this uncertainty, we wanted to let you know some of the measures Fibercore has put in place to maximise our ability to manufacture and ship the specialty optical fiber that you need.
Most importantly, we have introduced positive measures to keep all of our staff safe. Sales, Marketing and most administrative functions are now working from home but in constant contact with Fibercore House, via VPN and scenarios have been run to test critical functions, including Order Processing. The space freed-up at Fibercore House by home-working has been reorganised to increase social distancing, and new workplace cleaning and hand-sanitising protocols introduced.
The second set of measures have been implemented to safeguard manufacturing and therefore safeguard your supply. Raw material stocks have been increased substantially to ensure that we can produce all of the fiber that you need for at least the next three months (even in the unlikely event that our supply-chain breaks down completely). We are also training staff from Engineering to be able to run some of the manufacturing equipment. This will provide us with an increased pool of labour to take the place of anyone forced to self-isolate and thereby maintain the numbers necessary to ensure shift safety.
Finally, we are maximising overtime working for the next four weeks to bring as much manufacturing forward as possible and to increase stocks of finished product, making sure that we can continue to supply you, during whatever COVID-19 throws at us. If you are able to let us know what your near-term requirements are, then we will be very happy to build them into this intensive manufacturing program.
